SANDURA VS OTHER WOOD SHINGLES
Sandura® Shingles stand in a class all their own when compared to other wood shingles. Cedar is one of the world’s most popular wood shingles, but it comes with some draw backs that Sandura® doesn’t have. Cedar Shingles is not as durable or long lasting as Wallaba Shingles. Many users of our Sandura® Wallaba Shingles have reported that their previous Cedar shingles had to be replaced after 10-12 years. The life expectancy of Wallaba Shingles has been known to last over 30 years.
Sandura® Shingles weigh four times more than Cedar and have withstood wind gusts of 200 mph during Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean. Cedar is a wood that must be chemically treated to protect the wood from ferocious attacks by insects such as termites. Sandura® has natural properties in the wood that make it naturally resistant to unwanted pests such as these.
Cedar shingles must also be treated to be more resistant to fire. Sandura®, on the other hand, meets class A, B, and C roof system fire ratings when properly installed, making it one of the safest and best wood roofing products in the world without the use of chemical treatments.
Not all Wallaba shingles have the same standards as Sandura®. Those wanting this amazing wood to be applied to their home or business should first refer to our Consumer Alert Brochure which explains defects which can compromise the integrity of your roof.
Some companies will cut corners and overlook knots in the wood, splits, sap lines, feathered tips and thin or uneven butt ends. You might even find that there are less shingles to a bundle than what you will find in our premiere brand of Sandura® Shingles.
Our manufacturing plant takes the time to ensure that we do our best to avoid shipping shingles with such defects and make sure there are enough shingles in each bundle to cover 20 square feet.
Sandura® products are backed by a standard 25-year warranty.
